A mother and her daughter are suing Tulsa Independent School District No. 1, two students and their parents, and Twitter after her peers allegedly tweeted out half-naked pictures of the girl for the world to see.

DeAnn Cooks claims in her lawsuit that her daughter, identified only as S.C., was changing after a basketball game when two girls from Booker T. Washington High School's basketball team restrained her so a third girl could take pictures of her in her underwear, Courthouse News Service reported Wednesday.

After the picture was posted to Twitter, S.C. was ostracized, bullied and physically attacked by fellow students, according to the lawsuit.

Cooks said she and daughter complained to the girl's basketball coach, the school's dean, its assistant principal, and the public schools administration. Nobody helped them, the complaint alleges.

The assistant principal even went so far as to tell Cooks "she needed to drop her complaint because these incidents make the school look bad to the Tulsa Public Schools District administrators," the complaint alleges.

Cooks and her daughter are seeking punitive damages for assault, battery, and emotional distress, among other injuries, CNS reported.

The school district declined to comment on the case since it's in litigation. Twitter didn't immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.
