The son of Kentucky senator Rand Paul and grandson of former presidential candidate Ron Paul was arrested after a flight from Lexington, Kentucky to Charlotte, North Carolina, for alleged intoxication on Saturday morning.
William Hilton Paul, 19, was charged with underage drinking, disorderly conduct, and being intoxicated and disruptive, The Washington Post reported.
Lt. Blake Hollar from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said Paul may have been served alcohol during the flight, according to ABC.
Senator Paul's office released a statement asking for privacy in dealing the matter:
Sen. Paul is a national public figure and subject to scrutiny in the public arena. However, as many parents with teenagers would understand, his family should be afforded the privacy and respect they deserve in a situation such as this.
The underage Paul was released after posting the $750 bond.
