NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Jail records show that the suspect in a Mother's Day parade shooting that wounded 19 people faces 20 charges of attempted second-degree murder.
Nineteen-year-old Akein Scott was arrested Wednesday night in the Little Woods section of New Orleans.
He was already facing a gun and drug possession charge and was out on bond at the time of Sunday's shooting at a parade through a neighborhood near the French Quarter.
Investigators said he was identified as a suspect after police released surveillance video that appeared to show the shooter running from the scene as the crowd scattered.
It was not immediately clear why 20 counts were filed when authorities have said 19 people were injured.
Police were expected to release more details on the case Thursday.
