A cargo train has derailed in the White Marsh area near Baltimore, the Baltimore Sun reports.
The train has been engulfed by a huge fire and there are reports of a loud explosion that could be heard in downtown Baltimore. Several buidings near the scene appear to have collapsed, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Baltimore County's Public Safety office is advising anyone who can see the smoke to evacuate.
Baltimore Country's Fire Department told reporters this afternoon that the train derailed after hitting a garbage truck. Two passengers on the train were unhurt but the driver of the truck was reportedly in a serious but stable condition.
CNBC reports that a Hazmat team is on location, but new reports suggest that there were no toxic inhalants on the train, and responders do not appear to be wearing special equipment.
