The popular Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. was apparently vandalized last night with green paint.
The vandalism, discovered at about 1:30 a.m. on Friday, didn't contain any words, letters, or symbols, but police still believe it was intentional and are reviewing security camera footage to catch the culprit, according to the Associated Press.
The memorial is open 24 hours a day, and there are surveillance cameras on either corner, according to NBC News. The National Park Service has closed the memorial until further notice while crews clean up the paint.
A spokeswoman for the National Park Service told NBC that she can only remember three other instances of vandalism at the National Mall, all at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
